What A Difference Nine Years Makes

I ran across this Smartmoney article from nine years ago, asking "Can Lands' End Make It on the Web?"

Entertain yourself with stories of Fingerhut, Federated, Shop at Home, Lands' End and Spiegel.

Most interesting to me is the significant transformation each of these companies went through since this article was written in early 1999. Keep this in mind when pundits tell you what you "have to do" to survive in our multichannel world.
